Where will I actually sit and work?

At your own desk: every room has a dedicated workstation and individual AC, so you can shut the door and work in a cool room. The house has RFID keyless locks.

When you need a change of scene, there is the shared living area, a shared balcony and a personal library. In the evenings there is carrom and other indoor games. RO drinking water is on hand, and 600 litres of solar-heated water a day means a hot shower after a long day of calls.

What happens if the power goes out?

The house has UPS power backup and a hybrid solar system that generates over 10,000 kWh a year, and the internet has its 4G backup.

No backup setup is perfect. If your job cannot tolerate even a short interruption, message us before booking and we will tell you exactly what stays on during a cut.

Which room is best for a remote worker?

For a long solo or couple stay, choose Room 1 (₹1,300) for its private bathroom, or Room 4 (₹1,800) if you want your own kitchen. Rooms 3 and 5 at ₹1,000 suit a shorter work trip on a budget.

Do you give discounts for long stays in Goa?

Is a monsoon workation in Goa a good idea?

For work, yes. June to September is Goa’s monsoon: green, quiet and lower priced, which is what you want when most of your day is spent at a desk.

Peak season is November to February, busiest over Christmas and New Year, and October and March are the shoulder months. If you are here on 24 June, you will see Aldona celebrate São João with the traditional jump into wells.

What about food, groceries and laundry on a long stay?

Our family cooks home-style Goan meals: breakfast from ₹100 per person, and vegetarian or non-vegetarian lunch and dinner on request (ask for the current menu). Beef and pork are not allowed on the premises.

If you would rather cook, Room 4 has its own kitchen, and the shared space has a full kitchen with an air fryer, induction, chimney, mixer and kettle. For laundry there is an LG steam washing machine. For supplies, see our list of grocery shops and pharmacies near the homestay.

What can I do on weekends from Aldona?

Most of North Goa is within 40 minutes. Closest to us are Corjuem Fort (5 minutes; restoration work has been going on, so check it is open), the Aldona–Corjuem bridge, and Mayem Lake (about 15 minutes), where GTDC runs paddle boats.

• Friday: Mapusa market, about 18 minutes away, roughly 6 am–8 pm.
• Half day: Panaji (about 25 minutes) or Old Goa’s Bom Jesus (about 40 minutes).
• Beach day: Calangute and Baga (about 35 minutes), Anjuna and Vagator (35–40 minutes).
• Full day: Dudhsagar Falls, about 1 hour 50 minutes by road.

Who is a workation here not right for?

If you want to close your laptop and walk to a beach café, this is not your place. The nearest beaches are about 35 minutes by road, and Aldona is a village, not a nightlife area.

It also doesn’t suit party groups: we have a no-parties rule, alcohol in moderation, and no smoking indoors (terrace only). You will want a cab, a scooter or your own car. How far is Thivim railway station from Aldona?

Thivim railway station is 8–10 km from our house in Corjuem, Aldona, about 20 minutes by road in normal traffic. Of Goa’s main railway stations, it is by far the closest to us.

Karmali station is 27–29 km away (about 40 minutes) and Madgaon is 47–52 km (about 1 hour 15 minutes). If your train stops at Thivim, get off there rather than riding on to Karmali or Madgaon. It saves you 20 minutes to nearly an hour on the road.

How do I get from Thivim station to the homestay?

The easiest way is a pickup that we arrange: WhatsApp us your train and expected arrival time, and we will confirm the rate before you travel. You can also book a cab yourself on the GoaMiles app or the government Goa Taxi App.

How do I get from Mapusa to Aldona?

Mapusa to our house is 8–11 km, about 18 minutes by road. Take a local taxi from Mapusa, book a GoaMiles or Goa Taxi App cab, or catch a KTCL bus.

KTCL buses run between Mapusa and Aldona/Corjuem (route 116 via Aldona–Corjuem is one of them), roughly from 8 am to 7:30 pm. The fare is about ₹15–21. Buses are regular, but timings vary, so ask at the Mapusa bus stand for the next Corjuem bus. WhatsApp us before you board and we will tell you where to get down.

When is the Mapusa Friday market, and is it worth the trip?

Yes, if your stay includes a Friday. Mapusa’s market is a weekly Friday bazaar that runs roughly from 6 am to 8 pm, and it is about 18 minutes from our door.

Should I stay in Mapusa town or in Aldona?

Stay in Mapusa if you need to walk to the bus stand and market every day. Stay in Aldona if you want a quiet village base and don’t mind an 18-minute drive into Mapusa when you need it.

Aldona is a village of about 6,300 people (2011 census) in Bardez taluka, on the Mapusa river, a tributary of the Mandovi. Think paddy fields, coconut groves and Portuguese-era houses. St Thomas Church, built in 1596, stands on a plateau above the river. Corjuem Fort, built in 1705 and one of only two inland forts left in Goa, is 1.2 km from us; restoration work has been going on, so check it is open before you visit.

The honest trade-off: from Aldona you need a cab, a scooter or the bus to get anywhere, and the beaches are about 35 minutes away. We are not a beach stay and not a party house. There’s more on the village in our Aldona travel guide.

Traffic and time. Staying inland means each beach day starts with a drive: from us, about 35 minutes to Calangute or Baga and 35–40 minutes to Anjuna or Vagator. In return, Thivim station is about 20 minutes away and Mopa airport about 40.

For example, 12 guests staying 3 nights pay ₹22,500 (₹7,500 × 3) before any discount. Stays of 2+ and 7+ nights booked direct get a discount, so ask on WhatsApp for your exact quote. We accept cash, UPI and bank transfer.

A smaller group? For three or four couples, booking individual rooms can cost less: Rooms 1, 2 and 4 together come to ₹4,700 a night. You just won’t have the guest floor to yourselves. Tell us your group and we will say honestly which works out cheaper.

On the ground floor. Our family lives downstairs and guests have their own floor, so your group gets privacy and we are close by if you need anything.
